This upcoming Monday, Sept 7th - Labor Day, GMS Athletics will be hosting Kiwanis BBQ Chicken (4533 Seashore Hwy, Bridgeville, DE 19933) as a fundraiser from 9 am to 2 pm. Please stop in and buy a platter to support our athletic programs. You can also buy baked good (batch of cookies, baked bread, brownies, cupcakes, pie).

New Track Records
Two school records were broken at the GMS Invitational Track Meet!
Senior Jeremy Tennefoss broke the record in the 200 Meters with a time of 23.74 seconds. Kevin Troyer previously held the record at 24.2 seconds in 1994. Congratulations, Jeremy!
The relay team of Kate Yutzy, Molly Abbott, Kinzlee Calhoun, and Tessa Mast broke the record for the 1600 Meter Relay with a time of 4:39.64. The record was previously held by Racheal Miller, Geri Willey, Rani Adams, and Tammy Chisenhall in 1989 with a time of 4:45.7. Nice job, girls!#GoFlames

Harford Christian Tournament
Great weekend of basketball for the varsity teams! The girls fell to Harford Christian today in a tight game to finish second place in the tournament. Freshman Faith Elliott and sophomore Carli Welfley were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
The boys found themselves trailing Harford Christian with under three minutes to play before finishing the game on a 9-0 run to take first place in the tournament. Freshman Jude Harrison was named to the All-Tournament Team while junior Carter Long was awarded the tournament MVP.
Both teams are back in action on Monday at Calvary and will play their next home games on Monday, December 16.

New Basketball Coaches
We'd like to introduce two new coaches joining our team. Mike Braber will be coaching the middle school girls basketball team while Micah Twedell will be coaching the middle school boys team.
Neither Mike nor Micah grew up in the state of Delaware but both married GMS alumni and now have children attending the school.

Varsity vs Chestertown
Varsity soccer scored first but couldn't hold on in a 4-2 loss to Chestertown. Carter Long and Owen Swartzentruber were the goal-scorers.
Volleyball swept Chestertown by scores of 25-6, 25-20, and 25-16.
Both teams host Calvary on Monday in another interdivisional game.#GoFlames

Varsity Volleyball
Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team! With a win over Seaside today, the girls have clinched the #1 seed in the DVCAC South Division playoffs. There is still one more division game to be played tomorrow against Holly Grove, but even with a loss the girls would still finish in first place in the division. This will give the team a bye into the DVCAC semifinals and will also allow them to host the semifinals. More details to come later.#GoFlames

Varsity vs Holly Grove
Varsity teams both get huge road wins over Holly Grove! Volleyball dropped the first set 25-19 but came back to win the next three 25-19, 25-21, and 26-24 to take the 3-1 win and remain undefeated in division play. Soccer jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and the score held up until the end. Justin Sterling and Carter Long were the goal scorers.
Both teams host Faith Baptist tomorrow in another important game in the DVCAC South.#GoFlames

Varsity vs Fairwinds
Varsity volleyball sweeps Fairwinds to win their third straight game. The girls are now 3-3 on the season and are 2-0 in DVCAC divisional play. Varsity soccer gets their first shutout of the season in a 5-0 win over Fairwinds. The boys are now 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the DVCAC.

Varsity Volleyball - New Head Coach
I am pleased to announce that Michelle Mast is returning to her role as Head Coach for Middle School Volleyball. While we have greatly appreciated her contributions at the varsity level, we recognize that her true passion and expertise lie in teaching fundamentals and technique. We are grateful for her dedication. Thank you, Michelle.
We are also excited to introduce Rylie Humphries as our new Varsity Volleyball Head Coach. Rylie, a GMS graduate of 2022, has been a significant asset to our team for five years, earning DVCAC All-Conference honors, serving as a senior team captain, and helping secure three conference championships. Over the past two years, she has effectively led our GMS middle school team, demonstrating her commitment and skill in coaching.
We are very blessed here at GMS with excellent coaching for our Volleyball Program, which nurtures talent at all levels of play. Their dedication not only enhances our competitive edge but also embodies the spirit of teamwork and community at GMS.

New MS Volleyball Coach
We are excited to announce that Holly Humphries will be the MS Volleyball Coach for the upcoming fall season. A graduate of GMS in 1997 where she played varsity volleyball for many years. Holly was an assistant coach for the MS Volleyball team last year and her daughters Rylie, Amber, and Danica have all had wonderful moments on the volleyball court at GMS. Welcome aboard, Holly!

New MS Soccer Coach
We are proud to announce the addition of our new MS Soccer Coach is Aaron Casamento. A 2022 Graduate of GMS and a three sport athlete. For our varsity soccer team he was apart of three championship seasons and as a senior he was a captain and all-conference goalie. He has spent the last two years assistant coaching the boys and girls varsity soccer teams. Welcome aboard, Aaron!

Varsity Volleyball New Head Coach
The Athletic Department is excited to announce that our very own Michelle Mast has accepted the role of Varsity Volleyball Head Coach for this season. She lead our Middle School team for many years and has continued to run our Match Point Volleyball Camp. Her Assistant Coach will be Mrs. Joanna Warfel.
Varsity Volleyball Tryouts will be held on August 3rd & August 4th from 7-9 pm in the GMS Gym.
